Had another rough night at the Shrewsbury KOH tournament. It was my best 3 game set to date. (I have now bowled in it 3 times.) Anyway, I started out trying to roll my ball down the 5 board, and the 1st couple of shots looked good. But on my 3rd ball in warm ups, my ball grabbed the lane as soon as it touched the lanes. I am attributing that to the wood lanes being worn on the outside. I moved in a little bit, and started bowling for score rolling the ball over the 2nd arrow with my ball going out to about the 6th or 7th board. As the lanes started to hook more, I moved my feed to the left 1 board at a time, keeping my target as the 2nd arrow, and that worked for the 1st 2 games (220-191). However, when we changed lanes for the 3rd game, I was in the pocket on the left lane, but couldn't find it on the right. The 1st 3 frames on the right lane were 2-8-10, 3-6-10 and the big 4, and I did not pick up any of them. I finally moved where I was standing 4 boards to the left, and moved my mark 2 boards to the left and I found the pocket on the right side, and lost it on the left lane. Oh Well. :( Overall, I felt like I was picking up my spares better. However, I did miss 3 makable spares through the 3 games, and I missed the cut by 30 pins. My scores were 220-191-152 for a 563 series on the NCAA #2 pattern.
For those college bowlers (past and present) do you have any suggestions on how to play the different NCAA patterns?
I feel like I am close, but I don't get a chane to practice on the conditions prior to the tournaments.

Bowled in the King of the Hill tournament for the 2nd time tonight, and I felt like I did better. However, my overall average for the night was a 171. We were bowling on "NCAA 5 Transfer Brush". I had a good start with a 231. I was rolling my ball over the 1st arrow out to the 3 board, and it worked good for the 1st game. After that, it got real inconsistant. I only made the cut because of my first game. I bowled a 153 and a 154 for my 2nd and 3rd games, and ended up making the cut in the 3rd spot. In both of the match games, it came down to spares (because there were not a whole lot of strikes). I won the 1st match game 176 to 170. I lost the 2nd match game 151 to 154. In the 2nd match game, all I had to do was mark in the 10th frame. (By this time, I was just rolling my spare ball for my strike ball.) In the 9th frame, I came in high flush for a strike. I should have moved a board to the left in the 10th. I didn't, so I ended up leaving the 4-6-7 in the 10th. They pay 3 places, so I came in 4th. :(
Had a rough night bowling the Shrewsbury King of the Hill last night. (My first time bowling there.) The lanes were hooking a lot more than I expected them to. I started off the first frame with the big 4 split, and that was how the night went. I ended up with a 193, 220 and a 163 to make the bottom of the cut. Then I really stunk up the lanes with a 131, and made an early exit. I Will do better in the next one in 2 weeks.
