    Friday Night League - 17 Oct 08

Saturday, October 18, 2008, 11:01 AM CST [Friday Night Mixed]

After rolling a 756 series Wed night, strikes were a bit harder to come by last night (Friday).  However, I was happy with my spare shooting.  I ended up picking up 18 out of 20 spares.  The 2 opens I had was a wash out and the big 4.  I bowled a 205, 176 and a 213 for a 594 series.  Looking back, I am thinking that I should have used a weaker ball  last night.  We will see what happens next week.

    Friday Night League - 10 Oct 08

Saturday, October 11, 2008, 07:32 PM CST [Friday Night Mixed]

Had a good set Friday night.  I started out rolling my Grenade over the 3rd arrow out to about the 5 board and was getting pretty good carry through out the 1st game.  If I missed my mark, I missed 2-3 boards to the right, and was carrying the light hit.  If I hit my mark, it was flush in the pocket.  I ended up rolling a 258 for the 1st game.

The 2nd game, I started getting some carry down. I tried to slow down my ball speed, but could not get the reaction I had in the 1st game.  I left a washout with the 1st ball of the 10th frame, so I tried my Gyro, and it crossed over and picked up the spare.  I was just seeing what the ball would do, and got lucky converting the spare.  The next ball, I moved back on the approach 18 inches, and it was flush in the pocket.  I ended up with a 187 for the 2nd game.

I stuck with the Gyro, and opened up the 3rd game with strikes through the 5th frame.  Missed a 7 pin spare in the 6th frame and missed a 10 pin the 8th frame.  I left another flat 10 pin in the 9th frame (picked up the spare).  for the 10th frame, I moved up 4 inches on the lane, and the ball was flush in the pocket again.  Finished the 10th frame with 2 strikes and a 9 count for a 224 and a 669 series.

    Friday Night League - 3 Oct 08

Saturday, October 4, 2008, 11:33 AM CST [Friday Night Mixed]

Had a rough start tonight, but ended up with a pretty good set.  The pair we bowled on were as different as night and day.  On the right lane, I was rolling my ball over the 3rd arrow going out to 10 board, and on the left lane, again I was rolling my ball over the 3rd arrow, but I was having to send it out to about the 3 board for it to stay on the right side of the head pin.  I ended up rolling a 174 the first game (5 strikes, 3 spares and 3 opens).  I figured out both lanes at the end of the 1st game, and kept the ball in the pocket the rest of the evening.  For my 2nd and 3rd game, I had a total of 19 stirkes, 3 spares and 1 open.  For the set, I bowled a 174, 246 and a 256 for a 676 series.

    Friday Night League - 26 Sep 08

Saturday, September 27, 2008, 09:32 AM CST [Friday Night Mixed]

Had a better night of bowling last night.  As I have said in earlier posts, I have difficulty bowling any deeper than the 3rd arrow (I am all ready standing next to the ball return).  Anyway, I decided I was going to figure out how to bowl 4th arrow last night, and I had a decent set.  I ended up standing about 1.5 feet in front of the front set of dots next  to the ball return.  My approach was toward the gutter, and I was rolling the ball out over the middle arrow.  I found if I didn't open up my shoulders and get the ball out on the lane, the ball would most like go through the nose.  If I did do those things, I was in the pocket.  I ended up having 7 strikes in the 1st game, 6 in the 2nd and 7 in the 3rd.  Rolled a 209, 193 and a 233 for a 635 series.

    Friday Night League - 19 Sep 08

Saturday, September 20, 2008, 03:06 PM CST [Friday Night Mixed]

Struggled again last night.  Hopefully, this is a short slump, and it ended last night.  I had a total of 3 strikes (none together) and one open (split) for a 187 game.  I did find the pocket on the second game.  Had 7 stirkes, 4 spares and no opens for a 236.  I was lined up, but made the wrong adjustment going into the 3rd game.  I moved left, instead of just moving back on the approach to pick up the speed.  I lost my carry, and I had 4 opens.  2 of the opens were easy spares that were a lapse in concentration.  Llike the first game, I only had 3 strikes, and ended up with a 150 for a 573 series.
