I put the same post on the PBAX group. I figured that I would duplicate it hear because not everybody is in the group, and the group hasn't been getting that much attention lately.
I get a good number of revs when I bowl, and my ball speed ranges from 15 mpg to 16.5 mph depending on how far back I stand on the approach. I finished our PBAX league this year with a 208 average, and I had 3 300's this last year. However, because of the combination of bowling with 16 lb balls, getting a lot of revs, and by ball speed maxing out at 16 mph, I haven't been able to use the modern bowling balls (because they move too much on the back end). Two of the 300's were on house shots, and one was done with a Roto Grenade (hard urethane) and the other was with a sanded White Dot. My other 300 was on the Viper pattern with a Gyro. Last year at the USBC Open, I rolled a 1769 All Events with my White Dot.
I am not sure how far to reduce my ball weight. Also, should I change the weight of my entire arsenal, or should I hold on to the heavier bowling balls for the longer patterns?
